A recent Broadway hit about unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo who come up with a bold way to make some quick cash-they decide to become male strippers. The theme is ultimately about taking charge of one's life, following one's dreams and the importance of friendship. The show is both hilarious and heartfelt.

Rating: PG-13 for some mature language and subject matter.

STATE OF THE UNION (comedy/drama)
by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse

AT KREVSKY PRODUCTION CENTER
November 2-3, 8-11, 15-17, 2007
Fri./Sat. - 8:00 p.m.; Thursday - 7:30 p.m.; Sunday Mat. - 2:00 p.m.

Winner of the 1946 Pulitzer Prize, this sparkling and sophisticated play was also a film with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. It is a satire on America's favorite pastime - politics -- and a challenge to all Americans interested in the kind of government they think they deserve. This 60-year old comedy has remarkable parallels to contemporary politics and the seductive power of being elected to public office. Slated to coincide with national political primary season.

Rating: G-For all audiences, but subject matter may not be of interest to young children.

AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' (musical revue)

AT WHITAKER CENTER
February 22-24, 27-29, March 1-2, 2008

The enduring music of "Fats" Waller is featured in this stylish, snappy and seductive musical tribute reflecting the prodigious comic and musical soul of Harlem in the 1930s. Waller rose to fame during the Golden Age of the Cotton Club when the jumpin' new beat of swing was the rage. His career ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and to concert stages internationally. This is the only revue to win a Tony Award as "Best Musical." This reaches out to the same talent pool which made DREAMGIRLS a great local success.

Rating: G- For General Audiences.

OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS (comedy)
by Joe DiPietro

AT KREVSKY PRODUCTION CENTER
April 11-12, 17-20, 24-26, 2008

Nick is a single Italian-American from New Jersey whose retired parents live in Florida. When he is offered a dream job and is prepared to move away to take it, the grandparents begin plotting to keep him around. Who will run Nick's life, his grandparents or himself? This is a warm and hilarious family comedy, with universal themes and broad appeal.

Rating: G For General Audiences.

THE MIKADO (operetta)
by Gilbert & Sullivan

AT WHITAKER CENTER
June 6-8, 11-15, 2008

Arguably the most popular of all the G & S comic operas, this story is set in the fantastical "Japanese" town of Titipu, where the much-feared Mikado of Japan has ruled it a crime to flirt in public. This hilarious and satirical piece of nonsense can be enjoyed by all ages. It contains many well-loved tunes such as "Three Little Maids from School," "The Flowers That Bloom in the Spring" and "Tit-Willow." Very English, very silly, and completely delightful-and in the public domain!

Rating: G - For General Audiences.
